60 kg of Cannabis Seized from Government Bus in Phansidewa; Three Arrested

Police seize 60 kg of cannabis hidden in trolley bags on a government bus traveling from Siliguri to Kolkata; three suspects arrested and investigation underway.

Phansidewa, Jul 11 (Siliguri Journal) – In a significant drug bust, police from the Ghoshpukur Outpost seized 60 kg of cannabis from a government bus and arrested three individuals. The suspects have been identified as Ujjwal Shil from Dinhata, Amal Barman from Falakata, and Atmik Pandey from Malda.

Acting on a tip-off, the police conducted an operation late Wednesday night on the national highway at Ghoshpukur More in Phansidewa. They intercepted and searched a government passenger bus traveling from Siliguri to Kolkata.

During the search, police discovered around 60 kg of cannabis hidden in three trolley bags in the bus cabin. The estimated market value of the seized cannabis is reportedly in the lakhs of rupees. The contraband was allegedly being smuggled from Cooch Behar to Kolkata.

The three accused were produced in the Siliguri Divisional Court on Thursday. Meanwhile, the Ghoshpukur Outpost police have launched a thorough investigation into the incident.
