Rajganj, Jun 29 (Siliguri Journal) – A coal-laden lorry traveling from Rajasthan to Bhutan overturned late Friday night on the Siliguri-Jalpaiguri National Highway at the Jotiakali intersection. The accident happened around 11 p.m. due to the poor road conditions.
The driver, who was injured in the incident, was reportedly rescued and taken to a private hospital in Fulbari. Local authorities, including the New Jalpaiguri police, arrived at the scene after receiving reports of the accident.
Eyewitnesses and local drivers blamed the accident on the deteriorated state of the 4 km stretch of highway between Jotiakali and Fulbari, which has been in disrepair for a long time. They stressed that such accidents are frequent and called for urgent repairs to ensure road safety.
