Siliguri, Nov 24 (Siliguri Journal) – In a surprising event at Siliguri, a young person was caught for having a relationship with a minor, pretending he will marry the girl. This happened in the Gulma area, under Pradhan Nagar police station. The person involved is identified as Rahul Bharadwaj.
Reports indicate that the accused started a romantic relationship with the minor in 2019 when both were juveniles. He repeatedly engaged in intimate activities, falsely promising marriage. However, when the minor requested marriage, he allegedly refused. Subsequently, on Thursday, the minor lodged a formal complaint at the Siliguri Mahila police station, accusing Rahul of sexual assault under the false pretense of marriage.
Following the complaint, officials from Siliguri Mahila Police Station, with help from Pradhan Nagar Police Station, launched an investigation. Rahul Bharadwaj was arrested in connection with the complaint. On Friday, the police registered a case against him under the POSCO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act and brought him before the Siliguri court. Currently, a thorough investigation is underway into the entire incident.
