Arrest Made in Madhya Shanti Nagar Theft Case

Siliguri, Jul 19 (Siliguri Journal) – The Ashighar Outpost police have arrested a worker from a gold shop in connection with a theft in Madhya Shanti Nagar, Siliguri. The suspect, Sanjib Sutradhar, hails from the Majhabari area.

The theft took place in a house in Madhya Shanti Nagar on July 7, prompting a complaint to be filed at the Ashighar Outpost. After investigating, the police arrested Sanju Das, another resident of Majhabari, on July 10. Das was subsequently brought to court and placed on remand.

On Thursday, acting on information from secret sources, the police arrested Sanjib Sutradhar in the Majhabari area and recovered 50 grams of melted gold. According to police sources, Sutradhar had been arrested a few days earlier. He is suspected of buying stolen gold ornaments from thieves and criminals to resell them.

Sutradhar, who was arrested on Friday, has been sent to Jalpaiguri court. The police are investigating whether more individuals are involved in the incident.
