Siliguri, Jan 04 (Siliguri Journal) – Shock spread as the charred body of 84-year-old Lakshmi Rani Chakraborty was discovered in a house at Arabinda Pally, Ward No. 22 of Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC).
According to Bapan Chakraborty, the son of the deceased woman, his mother was a vegetarian who used to cook her own meals on a stove. He mentioned that she faced neurological issues and relied on sleeping pills for a peaceful sleep.
Bapan Chakraborty reported waking up to the neighbor’s screams in the middle of the night and discovering his mother’s house on fire. He mentioned that they suspected the fire might have been caused by the stove.
Upon learning of the incident, fire department personnel and Siliguri police promptly arrived at the scene, recovered the body, and transported it to Siliguri District Hospital.
