Naxalbari, Jun 22 (Siliguri Journal) – A tragic road accident in Bhangapool, Naxalbari, has claimed the life of Constable Ranjit Barman from the Naxalbari police station, leaving another officer injured.
According to reports, the incident happened late Friday night when two constables from the Naxalbari police station were returning to Naxalbari on a motorcycle. A four-wheeler struck their bike from behind in the Bhangapool area, causing both officers to be thrown to the ground.
Local residents quickly responded, rescuing the injured and transporting them to Naxalbari Hospital. Despite receiving initial treatment, Constable Ranjit Barman succumbed to his injuries while being transferred to a private hospital in Bagdogra. The other constable remains in the ICU and is undergoing treatment.
The tragic incident has cast a pall of mourning over the area. Authorities have launched a thorough investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident.
