Siliguri, August 07 (Siliguri Journal) – The Siliguri Women’s Police Station has arrested Himanshu Dev Sharma, 43, for allegedly deceiving a woman into a physical relationship by falsely promising marriage.
According to reports, the accused, Himanshu Dev Sharma, operates a pineapple farm in Bidhan Nagar and resides in Ward No. 22 of the Siliguri Municipal Corporation. Four years ago, he developed a romantic relationship with a married woman from Malbazar while she was visiting her relative’s home in Siliguri. During this time, Himanshu repeatedly engaged in an intimate relationship with the woman, promising to marry her. The woman became pregnant and gave birth to a child in 2021.
However, Himanshu gradually distanced himself from the woman and denied that the child was his. On June 28 of this year, the woman filed a formal complaint at the Siliguri Women’s Police Station. The police initiated an investigation and discovered that Himanshu was evading authorities.
Meanwhile, the investigation continued, and the accused was successfully arrested at his home after a tip-off to the police. On Wednesday, Himanshu was produced before the Siliguri Court, while the police continue their investigation into the entire incident.
